Cool experiences and even cooler people

Ecuadorian people are so stinking rad.

Here's a couple pictures of the self-reliance groups I'm in charge of starting. I get to meet a loooot of sweet people doing so.

Many fun adventures are had in our free time. Liiiike Karaoke in a chicken-restaurant!

Learning to cook a traditional Ecuadorian meal with these chefs!

Working with my ward's missionaries!
(A member fractured his foot, so we examined his x-rays like we knew what we were doing)

Getting shawarma with amigos!

And helping translate for BYU nurses as they set up a free health clinic in our church
PS those two ecuadorian kids are freaking BOSSES. Such rad kids who wanted to help. One of them even got scrubs??

Aaaand my companion asleep on one of our many super long taxi rides.

We have a lot of free-time on our hands during the day, so it's a huge blessing that we've met so many great people who invite us to do random fun stuff. Invite a friend to play today!

Adventure is out there

Today's plans consisted of: nothing.
So I looked out my window, pointed to an interesting looking spot on the mountain and said
"Today I am going to walk... there."
And then I did!

I found a bunch of cool stuff, like this dam,

Llamas?!

Peacocks???

Cows,

and these 3 pigs even followed me.

...and I'm pretty sure I found the dharma initiative.

salchipapas!

where I started from

Then I got caught in a tunderstorm!

aaaaaand then on the way home I found a star wars museum. Today was a good day.

Latitude 0'0'0"

I went to the equator today!
A little north of Quito, there's this huge park where they celebrate the equator.

Quito

Quito is pretty sweet. It reminds me a lot of Guatemala City, actually.
Here are some random snippets.

The train station that takes you to Hogwarts/Ecuador/Canada?

I don't know why but this guy seems like SUCH a boss to me

Catholic stuff and old stuff!

My manager told my work-companion and I that we had the day off today. Soooo we went explorin!

First stop: Basílica del Voto Nacional.

Then we went to old-downtown and saw some neato stuff.
Like...

Masked sword fighting dances

This cathedral where EVERYthing inside is covered in gold. Jaw dropping.
(We weren't allowed to take pictures inside.)

Quito is pretty rad!
